A well-established New Zealand manufacturing business producing engineered products locally and supplying customers across New Zealand. Finance is closely embedded in operations and commercial decision-making.
The role
This is a short-term contract senior Accountant role providing end-to-end finance cover while the business recruits a permanent FC. You’ll receive a comprehensive handover from the incumbent, look after the core hands-on finance tasks, and ensure clear documentation and knowledge transfer to the permanent appointee.
Operating in a manufacturing environment, the role is practical and commercially focused, working closely with operations to support margins, cost control and cashflow.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monthly management accounts, close and variance analysis
- Cashflow, working capital and inventory oversight
- Job costing, cost accounting and margin analysis
- Supporting pricing, quoting and operational decision-making
- Some oversight of self-sufficient AP, AR, payroll and purchasing team
- Maintaining financial controls, compliance and ERP integrity (Epicor)
- CA / CPA qualified (or equivalent)
- Highly capable hands-on Accountant (or FM/FC in between jobs) willing to roll up your sleeves
- Strong manufacturing, cost accounting or job costing experience
- Comfortable stepping into a contract role and picking things up quickly
- Detail-focused, commercially minded and practical
