We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, multi-site, not-for-profit healthcare organisation that provides specialist care and support to individuals and families within the local community. As the organisation progresses through a transformation of its finance function, they need an experienced accountant to join the team on an initial three-month contract.
This is a broad, hands-on role that will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of the finance function during a period of transition. You'll be joining a collaborative team where you'll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact, with genuine potential for the role to become permanent.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll take ownership of a wide range of financial accounting responsibilities and provide support across the finance team. You'll also have the capability and confidence to step into aspects of the Finance Manager's role should the need arise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and processing month-end general ledger journals
- Managing the fixed asset register
- Preparing month-end and year-end financial reports
- Producing monthly sales reporting and retail sales analysis
- Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Reviewing and monitoring funding contracts
- Supporting audit preparation and year-end activities
- Managing GST compliance and retail lease obligations
- Assisting with OPEX and CAPEX budgeting
- Preparing monthly cash flow forecasts
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Contributing to process improvements and supporting the wider finance team as required
You'll be an experienced Financial Accountant who enjoys being hands-on, takes ownership of your work, and can quickly build credibility with stakeholders. You're adaptable, organised and comfortable working in an environment where priorities and responsibilities can evolve.
You'll bring:
- 5+ years experience in financial accounting roles
- Strong month-end and statutory reporting experience
- Sound knowledge of GST and financial compliance requirements
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across financial systems
- The ability to work independently while supporting and partnering with the wider business
- A CA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualification (or be working towards one)
- Immediate start with an initial three-month full-time contract
