My client is looking to strengthen their integration capability as part of a longer-term plan to better connect systems and platforms that are currently not communicating effectively.
The environment is lean and under pressure, with reduced contractor numbers and some key leadership roles currently vacant. As a result, there is a strong need for people who can build integrations and understand them end-to-end, rather than relying on narrowly defined tool users.
This role is intended to add an extra layer of capability into the team — someone others can learn from, helping grow and complement the existing group rather than duplicating it.
What will I Be Doing?
- Building and supporting integrations between platforms that are not currently talking to each other
- Working with APIs, including both building and consuming them
- Developing and supporting integrations using MuleSoft
- Performing data mapping and transformation, including drag-and-drop style mapping
- Applying sound integration practices so integrations can be supported and understood
- Working across delivery rather than pure BAU, contributing to knowledge sharing and team uplift
This role is focused on capability rather than job title.
Key requirements:
- Strong experience working with APIs, with a clear understanding of integration concepts
- Hands-on experience using MuleSoft in a real delivery or support environment
- Ability to work across “both ends” — building integrations and understanding how they operate
- Willingness to share knowledge and help others grow
- Integration development
- Backend or platform engineering with integration exposure
- QA or automation roles with strong API and integration experience
- Candidates who have worked with integration tooling involving visual or drag-and-drop mapping
Team & Hiring Approach:
- The intent is to layer capability, not copy and paste existing roles
- There may be more than one hire over time as part of a longer-term plan
- Strong candidates may be engaged before a role is formally approved, with fixed-term contracts used as an easier entry point where appropriate
- Hybrid working and flexibility are available and valued
- Opportunity to work on genuine integration challenges rather than pure BAU
- Opportunity to own and influence your work and collaborate / knowledge share with a passionate, growing team!
- Competitive salary and benefits with future career pathways
- Scope to grow alongside the organisation as integration capability develops
- Open to strong local and international candidates, including those already in New Zealand (preferences for valid NZ working rights)!
