We're looking for a PMO Lead to drive one of New Zealand’s most impactful public sector transformations.
You'll oversee and coordinate delivery governance for an HRIS/Payroll system replacement to modernise legacy systems, streamline processes, and significantly improve the employee experience across the organisation.
You'll replace legacy systems with a new modern integrated digital platform,
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead a tailored PMO framework suited to the public sector context
- Oversee integrated programme planning, scheduling, dependencies, and resource management
- Drive risk, issue, and change control processes; support assurance and Gateway readiness
- Deliver high-quality reporting and strategic insights to governance and senior leadership
- Manage document control, financial oversight, vendor tracking, and key programme forums
- Lead a team of project professionals to ensure successful programme delivery
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years in senior PMO or programme roles, ideally within government or large public sector settings
- Direct experience in HRIS, Payroll, or major ERP implementations
- Proven knowledge of PPM methodologies (PRINCE2, MSP, Agile) — certifications preferred
- Expertise in assurance preparation, governance, stakeholder management, and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity for varied audiences
- Strong leadership, planning, documentation, and collaboration skills
- strong government experience.
- Familiarity with NZ Government frameworks (e.g., NZ Procurement Rules, Treasury IMS)
- Experience managing vendor delivery in a managed service environment
- Change management knowledge (e.g., Prosci ADKAR model)
