This is an opportunity to play a key role in ensuring procurement and contract management practices deliver value, manage risk, and support the organisation's strategic objectives.

Working across the business, you will be the trusted advisor on procurement and commercial matters, providing guidance to stakeholders while fostering strong supplier relationships and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulatory requirements.

You will oversee the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring the organisation secures goods and services efficiently, ethically and cost-effectively. You will support contract negotiations, provide commercial advice, and help build procurement capability across the business.
You will also play an important role in supplier relationship management, partnering closely with leaders across the organisation, including the Digital & Technology team, to manage strategic IT suppliers and maximise supplier performance.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and managing enterprise procurement activities from sourcing through to contract execution.
  • Providing commercial advice and support on procurement strategy, contract negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Ensuring procurement activities comply with organisational policies, legislative requirements and best practice.
  • Developing and maintaining procurement policies, processes and governance frameworks.
  • Managing supplier relationships to drive value, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the management of strategic IT suppliers in partnership with Digital & Technology leaders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve procurement outcomes, reduce risk and deliver cost efficiencies.
Skills required:
  • At least five years' experience in procurement, commercial, contracts, or investment management, including the management of high-value service contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience in digital and technology procurement.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage supplier relationships, ensuring contractual obligations and performance expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, with a track record of securing value-for-money outcomes.
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand Government procurement principles, public sector procurement regulations, and best practice procurement methodologies.
