Brand new Procurement Team Leader in one of the country’s largest, most modern procurement teams. Our client is a government organisation who are strengthening their digital and data capability through a transformation programme. They are seeking a highly experienced Category Lead to shape commercial strategy across technology, digital platforms, data services, and modern tech.
You’ll lead end-to-end category strategy for one of the largest technology portfolios in the country whilst reporting into the Head of Category and managing a team of 5 – 7 Category Managers.
What you’ll do
- Develop and execute technology and digital category plans covering software, hardware, data services, cloud, platforms, and emerging technology
- Lead strategic sourcing, contract negotiations and supplier performance management for high-value ICT categories
- Partner with digital, data, cybersecurity, and operational teams to support organisation-wide digital transformation
- Provide leadership to a high-performing procurement team and drive commercial best practice
- Analyse market trends, cost drivers and technology developments to inform long-term strategy
- Strengthen relationships with key national and international technology vendors
- Ensure commercial decisions support innovation, sustainability and equitable access to digital services
- Extensive experience in ICT procurement, digital category management or enterprise technology sourcing (ideally 10+ years)
- Experience of managing teams of 5+
- Leadership experience within large, complex organisations
- Strong background in commercial strategy, advanced negotiations, and supplier relationship management
- Deep understanding of technology markets, digital transformation and modern tech operating models
- Ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups
- Commercial acumen, strategic thinking and a passion for driving better outcomes through technology
