What if your machine learning models weren't just improving ad clicks or recommendation engines — but helping customers make smarter decisions every single day?

We're partnering with an innovative New Zealand AgTech company that's experiencing rapid growth and international expansion. They're looking for an experienced Senior Computer Vision Scientist to lead the next generation of their Machine Vision capability.

If you thrive on solving complex real-world problems and want to see your work deployed at scale across multiple countries, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

The Opportunity

This business has developed an AI-powered platform that uses smartphone and satellite imagery to help customers make better decisions.

Following significant growth and increasing international demand, they're investing heavily in their AI capability and are now looking for a senior technical specialist to lead the Computer Vision function.

Working closely with the CTO and a growing engineering team, you'll play a key role in developing cutting-edge Machine Learning models while helping mentor and grow the wider Data Science capability.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing and developing Computer Vision models using smartphone and satellite imagery.
  • Building and optimising Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs).
  • Developing Machine Learning models for deployment on edge devices.
  • Improving model performance across multiple countries and environments.
  • Collaborating closely with Mobile Developers to deploy AI models into production.
  • Working alongside Data Engineers to support robust model development pipelines.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to other Data Scientists.
  • Helping shape the future direction of the company's AI capability.

You'll ideally bring experience across:
  • Commercial Computer Vision and Deep Learning.
  • CNN model development.
  • PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
  • Python.
  • Image recognition, segmentation or object detection.
  • Machine Learning model optimisation.
  • Deploying AI models into production.
  • Technical leadership or mentoring experience.
Highly regarded:
  • Edge AI or mobile deployment.
  • Satellite or geospatial imagery.
  • Agriculture, environmental science or remote sensing.
Why Apply?

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth technology business where your work has real-world impact.

You'll enjoy:
  • Working on genuinely innovative AI products.
  • Solving complex technical challenges rather than routine model development.
  • Significant ownership and influence over technical direction.
  • A collaborative, highly technical engineering team.
  • Flexible hybrid working with a trust-based culture.
  • The opportunity to build products that are already gaining traction internationally.
What's on Offer?
  • Contract opportunity (can go perm or extend)
  • Hybrid working (Hamilton preferred, with flexibility for exceptional candidates).
  • Competitive contract rates depending on experience.
  • Opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing AI business.
If you're passionate about Computer Vision and want to work on technology that solves meaningful real-world problems, we'd love to hear from you.
