As part of the creation of a brand-new national Procurement, Supply Chain and Health Technology Management function, we're building a team of around 150 procurement professionals – making it the largest procurement team in New Zealand.
This is far more than a procurement role. It's an opportunity to influence how billions of dollars of public spending delivers better healthcare outcomes for more than five million New Zealanders.
We're looking for an experienced Supplier Performance Managers to play a key role in developing world-class supplier relationships, driving contract performance, and ensuring maximum value is realised from some of New Zealand's most strategically important commercial partnerships.
About the Opportunity Reporting to the Head of Category, you'll become the expert in supplier and contract performance across a significant portfolio, helping shape how Health New Zealand manages supplier relationships nationwide.
Working alongside Category Managers and senior stakeholders, you'll use data, commercial insight and strategic thinking to ensure suppliers consistently deliver against agreed outcomes while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation and greater value.
This is an opportunity to help establish best practice within a newly formed national procurement function that manages more than $9 billion in annual spend, works with 18,000 suppliers, and supports one of the country's most essential public services.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead supplier performance management across major strategic contracts.
- Develop Joint Business Plans with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, reporting and commercial insights.
- Identify opportunities to improve value, reduce risk and strengthen supplier partnerships.
- Support Category Managers by providing independent commercial analysis and performance recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement across contract management frameworks and supplier governance.
- Build collaborative relationships across procurement, finance, legal, clinical and operational teams.
You'll bring:
- 5 - 10 years' experience across procurement, commercial management or contract management.
- Strong experience managing strategic supplier relationships and complex commercial contracts.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret commercial and performance data.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
- A collaborative leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience working in large, complex organisations, with public sector experience advantageous but not essential.
- A commitment to delivering better outcomes through effective supplier partnerships.
